Cabin in the Catskills.

 Cabin in the Catskills.

This is one of the 4 season 4 cabins on our lot - with fireplace, sleeper sofa, kitchen, record player, chair, shower, fire ring, yoga chair, 30 foot waterfall and hammock. . It's off the grid, with toilets and saunas interacting. It sits on 20 acres and is two hours north of New York. Woodstock, Kingston, Saugerties, Catskill, Hudson River and many other trails are 15 minutes away. "One of the best Airbnb homes we've collected across the United States" - Architectural Digest, 2022

We love weekends in our 20ft shipping container. It is not like living in a house or a hotel room or in a bright tent. It's like camping, except that you are enclosed in high-performance insulated walls and energy-efficient windows and you sleep on a queen-size sofa bed (Ikea Friheten) and Percale Sheets Organic EVERGREEN stitches. (Our new compostable toilet is awesome!) When it's cold outside (and the stove is still warm inside) we often roll out of bed, relax in 'top coffee and steam in the Finnish sauna (built in a 10ft container). (You can book a private 90-minute session.) If it's warm, we leave both doors open and relax around the patio.

The kitchen is equipped with a sink and a two-burner propane stove. No refrigerator; there is a cooler for ice and perishables. There are enough pots/pans/bases to cook anything you want. (Yes, we have a coffee grinder.) Cooking is done over the fire, and we cook there often. A wood fire lasts all night long if you know how to make a fire. Otherwise, you'll have to wake up at four in the morning to turn it back on. (We'll let you lighten up a little easier.) In the summer, the breeze from the 3,645-foot Kaaterskill High Peak cools the bag, and the sound of the water lulls you to sleep. Staying in a room is an experience, not just one night. There is something special about this and this property. On a 20 degree night in a blizzard, it's 80 degrees and still indoors. Seven guests are here. (They all answered "yes!") Another visitor cut his bundle of wood into 1,000 equal pieces, thinking that the fire would burn longer and be brighter that way. This is not the case. There is a 30- to 300-foot waterfall, a beautiful stream running at a distance up the hill, and a 20-foot slate that surrounds the house. The hammock is perfect for reading and sleeping. The sound of the horse's bark is very sweet; the recorder is the bomb. This place is designed for two people. Or two and a baby. Larger groups can inquire about the three other cabins in the building, including a 40ft.

This home sits on 20 acres of beautiful land on the eastern side of the Catskill Mountains. Our back camp is located near the 3,645 foot Kaaterskill High Peak. It's like Maine or Alaska. You can't see the neighbors from our property, but there are neighbors which is nice. (Please respect and honor them.) Listen for the night owls!

Drinking water was left for all the guests to drink. Use a foot pump and have running water. There is a touch of light in the house. The new toilet is located in a small house surrounded by trees, 30 meters from the house. There isn't much storage space in the trunk, so we usually pack lighter and leave most of our stuff in the car, parking 10 feet away. Bring only the essentials, keep order and feel more relaxed. There is no smoking inside, most of the houses you will smoke around the fire outside.

There are Jackery/inverter battery packs for charging phones etc. Not big enough to use in the dryer, but big enough for your phone and record player! The cell service is pretty good in the room, but the metal walls of the case make it uncomfortable inside. (Put your phone next to a window and use headphones or speakers.)

The other three bags are placed on the other side of the house. The door that separates them from each is completely private. (We did it that way.)
